Seal Coating

Seal coating is used on an asphalt pavement to protect the pavement from the deterioration effects of the sun and water. Due to the exposition of the asphalt to the sun, wind and water, the asphalt harden and oxidizes. This dry the asphalt and create cracks. A sealcoat layer combats this states by providing a waterproofing membrane that will slow down the oxidation precess and prevent water to get to the base under the asphalt. Also a seal coating will increase the surface friction property to safer surface texture. The seal coating mix design of water, sand and additives will differ from application of low traffic or high traffic area. Petromat

Petromat is used to extend the life of any pavement area, including roads and parkings. it's a nonwoven fabric that field saturated with an asphalt cement tack coat to create continuous moisture barrier and stress absorbing in the new rehabilitated surface. Petromat protects pavements from moisture damage while extending the useful life of the roadway before the onset of reflective pavement cracking. The PETROMAT® system also forms a moisture barrier to limit infiltration of water through the pavement and into the aggregate base and soil subgrade. With less exposure to moisture, the base and subgrade will continue to be strong, perpetuating the support provided to the pavement and extending pavement performance. Although an overlay is not a permanent fix for the cracking that is occurring in your asphalt, it is a great way to bring that fresh paved look back to your parking lot, and for a fraction of the cost of the remove & replace option.
